KGA Gift Tree at the Galpharm

22/12/2011

Kirklees Grantmakers Alliance (KGA) Charity Gift Tree was held at The Galpharm Stadium in the Revell Ward Suite on Tuesday 20 December 2011.  The event was hosted and sponsored by Kirklees Stadium Development (the Stadium Company), it was also sponsored by LV= (Huddersfield), and supported with donations of gifts by over 30 other businesses in the Kirklees area.

Needy children from across Kirklees received the presents and the KGA would like to say a BIG “Thank You” to all those businesses contributing.  Richard Kitchen-Dunn of KD Decoratives based in Lockwood played a huge part in the success of this event by getting staff from KD to decorate the Suite to create a festive theme, and also donning his robes as Father Christmas at Huddersfield rail station to arrive by carriage and horse to the Stadium.  Charity workers from the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice escorted Father Christmas on route from the Railway Station.

We would also like to thank Arriva and First Bus companies for providing (free of charge) buses to transport the children from all over the District to the stadium and back home again, this was greatly appreciated.

Lastly, the KGA would also like to thank the children, parents, guardians, social and support workers who attended.  Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting time.
