Frank Bruno Brings In Another Win At The Stadium

17/02/2015

On Friday 13th the Stadium played host to boxing legend and World Heavy Weight Champion Frank Bruno.

The evening, organised by James Beattie of seeitnowsports.com, was in aid of local mental health charity Leanne Baker Trust.

Renowned Meltham born artist Darren Baker, who founded the charity after his sister Leanne took her life due to depression, drew a special black and white portrait of Bruno which was auction on the night, bringing in a fantastic £1,000 for the Trust.

Guests at the dinner heard Bruno discuss his life and career with comedian and compere for the evening Pete Emmett, and had the chance to bid on various sporting items.

Event organiser, James Beattie commented, “My personal highlight for the evening was spending time with Bruno.  He was really down to earth, very polite and funny, an absolute pleasure to be sat beside.

“His conversation with Pete about his mental health issues was very touching and you could tell it was from the heart. Through the raffle, auction of the painting and personal donations, we hope to have raised around £3,000 in total for the Leanne Baker Trust.”

Sally Willis, Head of Client Service at event sponsor Fantastic Media commented, “It was an honour to not only sponsor the event but to attend, and we are delighted that over £3000 was raised for the Leanne Baker trust.

“We were able to take with us a team from the agency who thoroughly enjoyed the evening and meeting Frank himself.”

The 215 guests were treated to a fabulous three course meal, with tomato and oregano risotto for starters, a choice of roast chicken supreme or bean and shallot lasagne for mains and a mango cheesecake for dessert.
