HE was one of the stars of Britain’s Got Talent.

And now Michael Fish is set for a return gig in his home town of Huddersfield.

The percussionist will be here next month to take part in the musical extravaganza – The Stadium Spectacular 2012. Ticket sales for the event have now soared to 4,500.

Michael, 24, from Golcar, reached the semi final of the ITV Talent show performing to a television audience of millions.

During his time, with the Music School he appeared on Blue Peter with the Kirklees Percussion Ensemble and took part in the prestigious School’s Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Michael has worked as a professional drummer for the past three years, performing in nightclubs in Ibiza, Egypt and Dubai.

Thom Meredith, principal at Kirklees Music School said: “Michael is a superb ambassador for KMS and is an excellent example of how people who are dedicated and persevere at their chosen subject can be successful.

“We are very lucky in Kirklees to have teachers who are so devoted to supporting young people in achieving their goals in life.

“Michael’s a very talented young man and it will be great for the young people at the Stadium Spectacular 2012 to share the stage with him – not many people can say they’ve got the Simon Cowell seal of approval.”

The Stadium Spectacular, which has been billed as the biggest youth celebration event to be staged in Kirklees, will celebrate both the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games.

Children from 110 schools are now involved in rehearsing for the Spectacular which will be compered by TV presenter Kirsten O’Brien.

Approximately 1,000 instrumentalists will also be performing during the event. The choir, with 4,500 young singers, will be seated in the stands and the songs, signed by Paul Whittaker OBE, founder of Music and the Deaf, will be projected on to a big screen.
