Thousands of Kirklees children will be taking part in a musical extravaganza in a triple celebration to mark the Olympic Games, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and 20 years of service to the community from Kirklees Music School.
The event scheduled for Friday 29 June 2012, will be staged in Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium. Already more than 5,000 school children have signed up to take part in the music festival.
The concert will start with an Olympic Style Opening Ceremony with Musicians parading and all delegates from schools carrying their school banner and Olympic Flames. Over 1,000 musicians will be performing during the event and they will also accompany a massed dance that will take place around the pitch. A choir of 4,000 will be in the stands with participants ranging from Infant to High School age. The songs will be signed and projected onto a big screen by Music and the Deaf.
We are providing the opportunity for over 5,000 children to showcase their talent to their peers, family and the wider community in the biggest celebration event ever held in Kirklees.
This event will be celebrating 20 years of Kirklees Music School, the 2012 Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. This event coincides with the end of the week that the Olympic Flame comes to Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Batley.
